Modeling and simulation techniques
Our Modeling and Simulation Division conducts research on modeling, simulation and semantic techniques for building computer systems for e-training. Operating under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research this Division is realizing two big projects building trainers-simulators for operators of mobile robots, training operator teams and creating semantic models of the environment.
IMM's CUDA Research Center
Institute of Mathematical Machines obtained the status of the CUDA Research Center. This NVIDIA program recognizes and fosters collaboration with universities and research institutes that are expanding the frontier of massively parallel GPU computing
Assistive ICT for blind (more->)
IMM leads for several years research and developing information technologies for the disabled people. For several years the Institute specializes in technologies for visually disable people - blind and visually impaired. Research are carried out within the framework of funded research projects (Ministery, PFRON) and market research services. Results of completed research work have been implemented in Polish companies: Internet service e-Kiosk with magazines for the blind, European Multimedia Encyclopedia for the Blind (awarded), Accessible Forms Generator (AFG). Currently, studies are being conducted on the availability of touch-screen based devices, the mechanisms of communication between the Braille notetaker and smartphone and ICT support for communication between sighted teachers and blind students in the field of mathematics education (PlatMat), as well as working together on math documents.
Electronic Signature Laboratory
IMM's Electronic Signature Laboratory is the main Polish non-commercial unit responsible for validating encrypted digital signatures, which are used in e-commerce and in administrative documents. Laboratory also serves as a main consulting resource for experts in regulatory and legislative initiatives relating to electronic signatures certification and performs yearly interoperability testing of products that use electronic signatures.
Semantic Technology Laboratory
This Lab is developing semantic databases and search engines, creates ontologies and semantic models for public administration and the economy. Semantic Technologies Laboratory supports other scientific institutions in the implementation of research and development with the use of semantic technologies, both proprietary and collaborative national and international.
Remote education systems (e-learning)
For many years IMM have been engaged in research and development of e-learning systems. As part of a pilot project of the EU Leonardo da Vinci program we developed innovative low-cost technology allowing creation, execution, tracking and reporting of electronic courses and their distribution and sharing. It includes authoring tools to create courses SCORM compliant with the specification, transferable between e-learning platforms of SCORM class.
Access, time and attendance control systems
IMM is renown for research and development of integrated security systems and access control based on the most advanced technologies. It has produced a range of readers, contactless or biometric systems used for attendance and access control. IMM is the only one in Poland, based on the work of their own, a manufacturer of biometric fingerprint terminal and the vein reading terminal.
Since 1989 the IMM has been offering a variety of basic and advanced computer courses, workshops and specialized training. The Institute's certified ECDL Examination Center provides ECDL (European Computer Driving License) training courses and exams on both basic and advanced level.
